Playa Blanca (Playa Blanca, "white beach") - a resort in Spain, in the south of the island of Lanzarote in the archipelago of the Canary Islands. It belongs to the community Yays.
Playa Blanca is the southernmost and one of the youngest resorts on the island of Lanzarote. Its main attraction is already encoded in the name itself - it is translated from Spanish as a "white beach". And indeed, the sand here is fundamentally different from the typical Canary - black and gray volcanic origin. Today, Playa Blanca specializes in family holidays, with the benefit of a quiet and peaceful atmosphere very well suited for holidaymakers with children. At the same time, there are a large number of shops, shopping and entertainment centers and restaurants. So this is not an abandoned city, only life here is very calm and measured.
Although Playa Blanca is not characterized by the abundance and variety of historical sites, there is a remarkable object here. This is an old tower of Castillo de las Coloradas, located on a high rocky promontory. It was built in the middle of the 18th century and served many years to protect the coast from pirate raids. Near the tower are several viewing platforms overlooking Playa Blanca and its surroundings.
The name of the resort Playa Blanca is translated from Spanish as "White Beach". This is partially correct. The city's three main beaches delight tourists with easy sand and calm waves, while a significant portion of the resort's six-kilometer-long coastline is covered in rocks.
In the heart of the village, in the so-called "old village", there is a natural beach, the name of which obviously did not have to appear for a long time - Playa Blanca. The beach is very small and not very interesting. Well, the fact that it can only be one step away from the restaurant table on the busy causeway.
But east of it lies the sprawling Playa Dorada beach, well protected by breakwaters. Here is everything, as on a real beach: umbrellas and deck chairs, water features, walks along the surf line.
A similar beach, but smaller, is located in the western part of Playa Blanca and is called Playa Flamingo. It is also demarcated from the sea by breakwaters, which were made by human hands and render traditional services.
West of Playa Flamingo, in the suburb, you will find three undeveloped sandy and rocky beaches. Nothing interesting, so we will not publish photos. At the eastern end of the resort there is another small attractive beach of Playa Las Coloradas, but spending time there would be blasphemous. After all, half a kilometer, the best beaches on the island of Lanzarote.
Playas de Papagayo is the general name of a chain of several amazing natural beauty beaches located on the cape at the southernmost point of the island. Each of them has its own name: Playa Mujeres - closest to the resort, Playa del Pozo, Playa de la Cera, Playa de Papagayo, Playa del Congrio...
To reach Playas de Papagayo, you can either walk from Playa Blanca or drive on a dirt road. The beaches are located on the territory of the Natural Park, so tourists have to pay to enter the motor transport - 3 € for four wheels. But the locals swim and sunbathe for free.
Playas de Papagayo is without doubt the decoration of the island. Coves with emerald green waters, bright sands, picturesque surroundings, no traces of urbanization. Although there are good private beaches in the city limits of all major resorts in Lanzarote, many people prefer to come here. Which is not surprising.
